Our Remote Access solution allows you to choose a unique hostname (ex: MyHome.digiconcepts.org) and link it to any IP-compatible device (router, webcam, security camera, DVR, thermostat, computer, file storage, etc.). As the IP addresses used to access these devices change, Digiconepts takes care of updating it for you, ensuring you are always connected.
We all have things on our home network we want to access from the outside: music collections, game servers, file stores, cameras, thermostats, lighting, and more. Dynamic DNS makes it easy to give your home network a memorable and easy to use address.
Every residential internet connection has an IP address that serves as the home’s network address on the internet. These addresses are numeric, in the format 188.8.131.52, and are not particularly easy to remember. Remember the last time you went to 184.108.40.206 to check up on pictures of your niece? A 'DNS server' resolved your human-friendly request of facebook.com into a machine-friendly address that sent you, probably in a hundredth of a second or less, to Facebook.
Take Me Through The Logistics?
This is where Dynamic DNS (DDNS) comes into play. People with residential connections get a dynamically assigned IP address. Your ISP has a big pool of addresses and they share them with everyone on an as-needed-basis. Unlike facebook.com where they keep the same IP address forever, your home IP address changes. Having you to retrieve the new IP address to access your devices in your home.
Thankfully DigiconceptsDNS makes it dead simple to assign a memorable name to your home IP address because we update automatically as your IP address changes over time. Once you set up Dynamic DNS, when you want to connect to your cameras, turn on some lighting because your coming home late in the evening, or turn on the heat to arrive to a warm home, you can just point your app to an easy-to-remember name. Anytime you want to connect to your home computer from afar, you just type in 'mypersonaladdress.digiconcepts.org and you’re there.
What Do I Need?
Setting up DDNS for your home network is really simple and once setup should require next to no maintenance over time. Here are the steps to help you through the process:
Purchase a Dynamic DNS by clicking on the green button at the top of the page or you can simply just click here.
You’ll want a router that supports DDNS services. Why is this so ideal? When your router supports DDNS services, you can simply plug in our DDNS credentials and your router will automatically update the address behind the scenes.
Enjoy your remote access to your home. It's really that simple!
